Jack Bauer fans, rejoice! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers of FOX’s "24" are developing a two-hour "prequel" to bridge the two-year gap between season six and the upcoming season seven. The TV movie is scheduled to air in the fall, with the show itself returning in January.
While eight episodes for the serialized drama had already been shot prior to the writers strike, FOX decided it wanted to wait until it had a complete seventh season in the can as opposed to splitting it up into two parts.
"24," starring KIEFER SUTHERLAND as government agent Jack Bauer, is set to resume production on the seventh season in April.
Only weeks after the death of her alleged secret boyfriend Heath Ledger, Mary-Kate Olsen has found herself a new man — Italian playboy Lapo Elkann, another troubled drug abuser, according to reports.
Lapo Elkann — a notorious Italian playboy who — with his wild hair, eccentric fashion sense and party lifestyle — strikes an eerie resemblance to the late Brokeback Mountain star.
Heath, 28, was found dead in his New York apartment in January, after accidentally overdosing on prescription drugs. (more…)
Paris Hilton is set set to guest star in hit TV show My Name Is Earl — as herself, it has been revealed.
The 27-year-old socialite — whose film The Hottie and the Nottie bombed at the box office, taking a dire $9,000 in its opening weekend last month — will star in the hour long episode titled “I Won’t Die with a Little Help From My Friends,” where she will portray herself in a dream sequence of Earl’s (Jason Lee).
The episode airs April 3, the first post-strike show for the sitcom. (more…)

PARIS HILTON will guest-star as herself when "My Name is Earl" returns to the airwaves with the show’s first original episode since the writers strike ended, NBC announced Tuesday.
During the one-hour episode, airing April 3, Earl (JASON LEE) becomes unconscious and various things from his real life begin to bleed into his unconscious mind — with Paris being one of those things in his fevered mind.
"When we wrote the role of Paris Hilton in the script, we weren’t exactly sure who to go with for the role. But after an exhausting search we finally settled on a relatively unknown actress by the name of Paris Hilton," said GREG GARCIA, the series’ creator and executive producer. "I can’t wait to see what she does with the role and I can’t wait for America to discover her."

"Grey’s Anatomy" star T.R. KNIGHT is gearing up to take the stage for "Good Medicine," a concert being held this Friday at UCLA to benefit The Solidarity Fund, and ET is exclusively at his rehearsal — where he admitted he was "scared, very scared," of performing.
The Solidarity Fund was set up by the Writers Guild of America to help crew members who lost work due to the three-month strike. Friday’s benefit will also feature performances from a number of T.R.’s castmates, including KATHERINE HEIGL, SARA RAMIREZ and ELLEN POMPEO as well as "Private Practice" stars AMY BRENNEMAN and TIM DALY, among others. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Meanwhile, T.R. also offered a few "Grey’s" tidbits, set to return to the airwaves April 24 on ABC. "Someone’s going to die," he jokes. "I bet that’s going to happen!"
The writers’ strike is over … for at least three years.
WGA members wrote a definitive ending to the 14-week writers strike, ratifying the new three-year contract by a considerable majority, according to the Associated Press. When the final vote of 4,060 Guild members in NY and L.A. was tallied, 93.6 percent of the ballot-casters said "yea" to the deal, effective through May 1, 2011.
"This contract is a new beginning for writers in the Digital Age," said PATRIC M. VERRONE, president of the WGA West. "It ensures that Guild members will be fairly compensated for the content they create for the Internet, and it also covers the reuse on new media platforms of the work they have done in film since 1971 and in TV since 1977."
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers added in a statement: "Now that our industry is back in business, our goal is to collaborate with everyone in the industry — writers, directors, actors and stagehands alike — to produce the highest-quality entertainment products without any further interruption."
"CSI: Miami" will be one of the first shows back on the air with new episodes now that the writers strike is over. The target date for the re-launch is Monday, March 25 — and, in order to meet that date, DAVID CARUSO, EMILY PROCTER, KHANDI ALEXANDER, JONATHAN TOGO and the rest of the cast and crew are back at work.
"It feels pretty good," Caruso tells ET, who is first on the set. "I think it was obvious it was time to come back to work, the audience was beginning to miss us. They said, ‘We love the re-runs but enough.’"
And Procter reveals, "Now that we’re back, we’re going to do eight episodes in seven weeks. It’s going to be such a run and gun."
