GEORGE CLOONEY is speaking out about today’s agreement between the Director’s Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The actor tells ET Thursday afternoon in a statement: “I’m very pleased with the new agreement and I hope it helps speed up the negotiations with the WGA.”
ET has the details…
The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a new three-year labor contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) — a deal that could potentially spur striking writers to press their own WGA negotiators to make a deal ending their now 11-week-long strike.
“Two words describe this [the directors' and producers'] agreement — groundbreaking and substantial,” GIL CATES, chair of the DGA’s Negotiations Committee, tells ET. “The gains in this contract for directors and their teams are extraordinary — and there are no rollbacks of any kind.”
Through their new agreement, directors would net increased wages and residuals each of the three years, plus make a number of Internet-related gains.

BEYONCE KNOWLES will perform at the Grammy Awards, it was announced today. Regardless of a possible picket line due to the writers strike, the award-winning singer and actress has pledged to attend the event and perform on stage.
And Beyonce isn’t the only artist to make a commitment to this year’s Grammys. The FOO FIGHTERS previously confirmed they will participate in the annual show. The band will play an orchestral version of the Grammy-nominated song “The Pretender” as part of the annual “My Grammy Moment” contest.
“We’re participating in ‘My Grammy Moment’ because it creates opportunities. Opportunities to write, compose, play and study music — skills that absolutely need to be passed on to generations to come,” DAVE GROHL of the Foo Fighters tells ET. “And thanks to ‘My Grammy Moment,’ a musician from that next generation is going to get the chance to audition on YouTube to play with us at the Grammys as part of our orchestra.”
