The official investigation of how Heath Ledger obtained two of the prescription painkillers found in his system at the time of his sudden death has been closed due to lack of evidence. It was previously reported here that actress Mary-Kate Olsen had been subpoenaed to testify in front of a grand jury as part of a probe into the mystery surrounding the star’s death.
Ledger died of an accidental prescription drugs overdose at his New York apartment in January (08). Olsen’s name was brought into the case because a masseuse Diana Wolozin, who found Ledger dead called the former child star 3 times on Ledgers phone (he had her on speed dial) before contacting the emergency services, prompting suspicion. Sources confirmed Olsen wasn’t willing to talk to the Feds unless granted immunity for any possibly illegal activity, and a subpoena was reportedly headed her way.
But now it looks as if the 22-year-old actress has somehow successfully stonewalled the investigation and will escape having to give testimony. An unidentified official has reportedly told People Magazine that prosecutors have closed the investigation “because they don’t believe there’s a viable target”.
